Lifting the Ban on Oil Exports Would Put the USA Back on Top
posted by Unknown @ 10:45 0 Comments
So what's stopping the US from bring the biggest exporter of crude oil in the world anyway? Oh nothing, just a little law from way back in 1975.
The Energy Policy and Conservation Act, signed into law back in 1975, states that no crude oil extracted here in the United States can be exported outside of North America, that it must be refined right here in the USA. At the time, since the US was importing such a large percentage of its oil, it posed no threat.

The Past Comes Alive at Brown Book Shop – Literally
posted by Unknown @ 07:20 0 Comments
It was F. Scott Fitzgerald himself who said, “There are no
second acts in American lives.”
Apparently, he never met the book Basic Electronics by Mac Elwyn
Van Valkenburgh. After sitting on the
shelf of the Brown Book Shop for more than 59 years, Vol. 4 of the book was
finally sold on Thursday. Take that F.
Scott!
Originally published in 1955, the book was the fourth in a
series of six. Volume 1 was originally a
release of courses taught in Navy specialty schools. Although later editions of the book are still
available today, it is rare to find the actual first edition from 1955.
Born in Utah
in 1921, Van Valkenburgh received his Masters in electrical engineering from
MIT in 1946 and his PhD from Stanford
University in 1952. He was the author of seven textbooks and
many more scientific publications. He
even has an award named after him: the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Mac
Van Valkenburgh Award.
Van Valkenberg passed away in 1997 at the age of 75.

David Holt Says It's Time to Take 'Fracking' Back
posted by Unknown @ 13:13 0 Comments
David Holt, spokesperson for the Consumer Energy Alliance, asked the question: why does the term environmentalist applies only to those who are opposed to the oil and gas industry? His answer was that everyone is an environmentalist at heart. “No one wants to destroy the environment,” he said.
When it comes to hydraulic fracturing and public fears over environmental concerns, it’s the oil and gas industry itself that needs to move the conversation in another direction. At least, that’s how a panel of public relations experts sees it. The panel delivered the message at the Petroleum Connection’s Clean Fracking Conference in Houston.
