Eagle Ford Shale Boom Making Millionaires in This Small Texas Town

Image of oil well in the Eagle Ford Shale playJust about everyone knows the story of Jed Clampant from the Beverly Hillbillies, the popular show of the 1960s. While that was just a comedy, it seems that the rags-to-riches tale behind the story really is coming true in small towns all across America. For some, it's better even than winning the lottery. It's an oil and gas dream come true in the Eagle Ford Shale region of South Texas.

What seems almost impossible to be true in one of the poorest towns in Texas, Kenedy. Yet, when you look at the numbers it all becomes very true.  From 2009 to 2013, the county tax base skyrocketed from $513 million to $7.1 billion.  If you think that’s something, think about the fact that the volume of oil pumped here increased from 318,952 barrels in 2009 to nearly 46 million barrels, and that’s just through the first 10 months of 2013.

And that's just the beginning. Come read this great article at Brown Petro and see how everyday people are becoming millionaires overnight all because of the booming shale oil and gas business.
