Brown Book Shop and Houston's Downtown Magazine

Back to the Future

That's right, Brown Book Shop is going back to the Future in the summer edition of Houston's Downtown Magazine. The summer issue boasts of reflecting on Houston's past while at the same time looking to the future. Brown Book Shop just happens to fit the bill on both accounts.

The summer issue features an interview with Brown owner Noah Davis, who along with partner Steven Plumb purchased the bookstore back at the beginning of 2014.

In the interview, Adams gives a unique insight into the bookstore itself and what inspired he and partner Plum to acquire it.

"Right now America is going through and oil & gas boom like never before.  These new shale formations like the Bakken in North Dakota, the Marcellus in Pennsylvania, and especially the Eagle Ford right here in Texas, they’re not just going to change the oil and gas industry, they’re going to change the world," says Adams."

"Right now salaries for those in the oil and gas industry are through the roof.  Some are up as much as 35 percent in the past few years alone.  The demand for more skilled labor in the oil and gas business means hundreds of thousands if not millions more workers in the next decade alone.  We feel our timing could not have been any better.  We’re right here alongside it, right at the very beginning."

Come check out the magazine published by the Houston Downtown business Alliance. The summer 2014 issue cane be seen in its entirety on their website. Just go to page 11 for the Brown interview.
